You don’t have to be in school to need a break this spring.
What can you do in Chattanooga and on Lookout Mountain this spring break?
Chattanooga sits on the Tennessee River at “the point” of Lookout Mountain. It’s location and size make Chattanooga famous for being a cool, smaller city in the middle of the mountains. You can easily explore the outdoors, and still head into the heart of Chattanooga for art, shopping, and dining.
The cliche is true, there is something for everyone in The Scenic City.
The Great Outdoors
Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain are famous for hiking, biking, kayaking, caving, bouldering, paragliding and hang gliding. There are so many outdoor options that it can be hard to decide where to start.
We have friends that can help.
Chattanooga Guided Adventures offers kayak tours, rock climbing excursions, and bike tours. Zach is an amazing guide, so this spring I highly recommend taking the Nickajack Bat Cave Sunset Kayak Tour.
With Chattanooga Guided Adventures gear rental program, you can also rent gear and adventure on your own. Stand up paddle boards, mountain bikes, and backpacking gear can be delivered to your Chattanooga Vacation Rentals vacation home!
Thanks to our partnership, guests of Chattanooga Vacation Rentals receive discounts with Chattanooga Guided Adventures.
If hiking is more your style, you will love our friends Hope and Ryan at Experience Chattanooga. They will guide you to some of the most beautiful waterfalls and panoramic views around Chattanooga. Your hike includes professional photography and transportation. And, your guided hike is pet friendly so you can bring your pup! You’ll have many experiences to choose from, and the “hike level” of each experience is rated from easy to moderate.
If you are vacationing with kids, Hope and Ryan’s number one recommendation for families is the Lula Lake Tour.
Thanks to our partnership, guests of Chattanooga Vacation Rentals receive discounts with Experience Chattanooga.
We even have friends who can guide you through the sky. World famous Lookout Mountain Flight Park has been at it since 1978, so they are the hang gliding and paragliding experts. You can fly tandem with a hang gliding instructor, spend a morning on the bunny hills, or stop by to watch hang gliding and paragliding pilots fly off of the mountain launch on Lookout Mountain.
This one is for you, kids!

Shopping In Chattanooga
With shops like Lululemon, Anthropologie, and J. Crew, Warehouse Row in downtown Chattanooga is a favorite spot to shop. What makes Warehouse Row unique are the local and regional stores like Embellish for women’s clothing, Revival for unique home furnishings, and The Cosmetic Market for beauty products.
While you’re there stop in at Two Ten Jack, a Japanese izakaya and ramen house. Izakaya means stay-drink-place. Two Ten Jack has an amazing atmosphere and features small plates, ramen, yakitori, and cocktails.
One of my favorite places in Chattanooga to take out of town guests (and to go to myself) is the Northshore. At the north end of the walking bridge, you will find art galleries, eclectic shops, restaurants, a local art supply shop, ice cream, Coolidge Park, and our local consignment outdoor clothing and gear store, Four Bridges Outfitters.
First, grab a bite at Good Dog or some ice cream at Clumpies. Then explore Blue Skies or Locals Only Gifts and Goods for gifts, or hit up Winder Binder which is an amazing book store that sells both new and used books as well as records and folk art. There are so many great spots, you have to check out Chattanooga’s Northshore for yourself. But, a couple more ideas of local Chattanooga businesses to enjoy… Art Creations, Collective Clothing, In Town Gallery, or Plum Nelly.
Before you leave the Frazier Avenue area of Northshore Chattanooga, take a ride on the antique carousel in Coolidge Park.
And Now For Something Completely Different
Giant seesaws every day and special celebrations each weekend from March 4 – April 3 at Rock the Riverfront. We’ll see you there!
If you have not chosen your vacation rental for your Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain adventure, we can help. Chattanooga Vacation Rentals has a little bit of everything including Lookout Mountain cabins, log cabins, pet-friendly homes, homes in town, and homes with hot tubs.
